BeyondNetZero is a new climate venture from General Atlantic that invests in high-growth companies developing innovative climate solutions.

Established in 2021, BeyondNetZero combines General Atlantic’s significant expertise in growth equity with a dedicated, senior team of climate investors, advisors and industry experts, including Lord Browne of Madingley. The team focuses on identifying entrepreneurs who are addressing climate-focused problems and helping them scale.

BeyondNetZero’s investment strategy focuses on four central themes:

of supply chains, industrial processes and products

solutions that contribute to energy efficiency and conservation

reducing waste and the resource-intensity of economic activity

measurement, management, storage and removal of emissions

As with General Atlantic’s core growth equity strategy, BeyondNetZero targets high-quality, growth equity investments. We seek to identify entrepreneurs with established technologies poised to be deployed at the commercial stage, as well as those offering solutions for companies that are looking to pivot away from unsustainable models.

Underpinning BeyondNetZero’s approach is an exclusive strategic partnership with SystemIQ, an independent climate consultancy, think tank and investment firm. BeyondNetZero is working with SystemIQ to develop a proprietary approach to measuring, reporting and driving emissions reductions that is driven by data and aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative. Through this partnership, we developed a robust, market-leading approach to assessing investments’ potential for emissions reductions, which is a central component of the evaluation process for potential investments.
